Dr Eduardo Ruiz Hernandez
Senior Research Fellow,
Eduardo is a chemical engineer and completed his PhD in biomaterials science in 2010. He has participated in 16 research projects across 7 countries involving the synthesis and characterization of nanodevices and their applications in drug targeting, local delivery, hyperthermic cancer treatment and magnetofection. Eduardo previously worked with DRIVE partners Prof Wim Hennink from University of Utrecht and Prof Jose Luis Pedraz from CIBER-BBN. Eduardo was a senior researcher in the AMCARE project, where he developed polymeric drug delivery systems for the controlled release of cardiac regeneration agents. His scientific interests include the design of multifunctional nanosystems for the triggered release of drugs and genes. In the DRIVE project, Eduardo will use his experience in drug delivery to engineer early oxygenation technology for islet survival immediately post-transplant.
